201J4 stainless steel coils and sheets

We are a supplier and exporter of stainless steel coils and sheets. We had enough 201J4 2B and 201J4 No.1 thickness from 1mm to 20mm. One of the most in-demand materials in our product line is 201J4 stainless steel.

Part of the 200 series of stainless steels, 201J4 offers a balance of strength, corrosion resistance, and economic pricing, making it a popular choice for both industrial and consumer applications.

201J1 and 201J5 are not usual grade at our stainless market. The usual stock grade is 201J2 and 201J4. The 201J4 price is high than 201J1, than 201J3 than 201J5.

What is 201J4 Stainless Steel?

201J4 is a low-nickel, austenitic stainless steel that belongs to the 200 series. It is designed as a cost-effective alternative to 304 stainless steel, particularly where corrosion resistance is not the top priority. It is widely used in applications like kitchen equipment, decorative panels, sinks, elevator doors, utensils, and construction materials.

Compared to 304, 201J4 contains less nickel (Ni) and more manganese (Mn) and nitrogen (N), which helps maintain its austenitic structure and mechanical strength while reducing costs.

Key Characteristics of 201J4

  • Cost-Effective: Lower nickel content significantly reduces cost.
  • Moderate Corrosion Resistance: Suitable for indoor or low-corrosion environments.
  • Good Strength: Tensile strength over 500 MPa, suitable for structural applications.
  • Good Surface Finish: Can be polished or surface-treated to meet decorative requirements.

Workability: Suitable for bending, stamping, and cold forming.

Differences Between 201J4 and Other 201 Series Grades

1. 201J1 vs. 201J2

  • 201J1has slightly higher manganese and nickel content than 201J2, which offers better corrosion resistance and ductility.
  • 201J2is a more cost-conscious alternative, often used in less demanding environments.

2. 201J3 vs. 201J2

  • 201J3 contains more manganese than 201J2, which improves mechanical strength but may make it slightly harder to form.
  • Both grades have similar corrosion resistance, but 201J3 may be better suited for structural parts.

3. 201J4 vs. 201J2

  • 201J4 includes higher nickel and lower carbon, making it one of the more corrosion-resistant and ductile options in the 201 series.
  • It is also more expensive than 201J2, and is often selected for decorative or high-end applications.

4. 201J5 vs. 201J2

  • 201J5 is typically a lower-end 201 series material, with the lowest nickel and chromium among the group.
  • It has weaker corrosion resistance and is mainly used in dry, indoor environments or non-load-bearing decorative purposes.
  • 201J2 offers better overall mechanical performance and slightly better corrosion resistance than 201J5.

Notes:

  • Grades 201J1 to 201J5 are non-standard variations commonly used in the Chinese domestic market, developed to meet various performance-cost tradeoffs.
  • Except for 201J4 (and partially J1), which can be matched to international standards like SUS201 or UNS S20100, the others (especially J2, J3, J5) do not have direct international equivalents.
  • Key differences lie in nickel (Ni) and manganese (Mn) content, affecting corrosion resistance, strength, and cost.
