AISI 304H Stainless Steel: Equivalent Grades and Meaning

At Gangsteel, a leading manufacturer and exporter of stainless steel products, we supply premium AISI 304H stainless steel plates compliant with ASME SA 240 and ASTM A240 standards. AISI 304H stainless steel, also known as UNS S30409 or 1.4948, is a high-carbon variant of 304 designed for high-temperature applications. This guide explains the meaning of AISI 304H stainless steel and its equivalent grades across international standards. For inquiries, contact us at admin@gangsteel.com or explore our ASME SA240 Stainless sheet.

What is AISI 304H Stainless Steel?

AISI 304H stainless steelis a high-carbon austenitic stainless steel (0.04-0.10% C) specified for elevated-temperature service, enhancing creep and rupture strength compared to standard 304 (≤0.08% C). The "H" denotes "high carbon," making it suitable for pressures vessels and boilers up to 1500°F (815°C). It retains the non-magnetic properties of 304 with a density of 8.00 g/cm³. See our sa240 gr 304h for stock.
