What is SA 240 Gr 316 Material Specification

ASTM SA 240 Grade 316 stainless steel plate is a molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel. It offers improved resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments compared to Type 304. It is part of the ASTM A240/ASME SA240 standard, which covers chromium and chromium-nickel stainless steel plate, sheet, and strip for pressure vessels and general applications.
