4. Heat Resistance and Operating Temperature

Stainless steel plate ASTM A240 TP304can be used continuously at temperatures up to 870°C (1600°F) and intermittently up to 925°C (1700°F).
However, for long-term service in the 425–860°C range, a low-carbon grade such as sa240 gr 304l is recommended to minimize carbide precipitation.

5. Corrosion Resistance

6. Welding and Fabrication

ASTM A240 TP304stainless steel plates have excellent weldability and can be welded using most conventional methods such as TIG, MIG, or SMAW.
The recommended welding electrode is E308L, ensuring high-quality joints with minimal risk of intergranular corrosion.

After welding, it is advisable to perform cleaning or passivation to restore the chromium oxide protective layer.
