Both grades have a density of ~8.00 g/cm³, but SS 304 outperforms SS 201 in corrosion resistance and durability, while SS 201 is more affordable.

Chemical Composition Comparison

The primary difference lies in nickel and manganese content, affecting corrosion resistance and cost:

• SS 201: Higher manganese and nitrogen compensate for lower nickel, maintaining austenitic structure but reducing corrosion resistance. Higher carbon (≤0.15%) can affect weldability.
