  • JIS G4305 SUS430(Japan)
  • ASTM A240 Type 430(USA)
  • EN 10088-2 1.4016 / X6Cr17(Europe)
  • DIN EN 1.4016(Germany)
  • GB/T 3280 10Cr17 / 1Cr17(China)
  • BS 1449 430S17(United Kingdom)
  • ISO 4954 X6Cr17(International)

When architects, hardware manufacturers, and fabricators search for 430 stainless steel, AISI 430 stainless steel, SUS 430 stainless steel, Grade 430 stainless steel, SS 430 stainless steel, 430 ferritic stainless steel, cold rolled 430 stainless steel, 430 stainless steel coil, 430 stainless steel sheet, 430 stainless steel plate, or a reliable 430 stainless steel supplier, 430 stainless steel exporter, and 430 stainless steel factory, they often specifically request material from top Chinese mill 430 stainless steel like Yongjin. As a direct Yongjin 430 agent, Gangsteel offers genuine China Yongjin 430 BA/2B with the brand premium and uniform NO.4 brushed surface properties that customers rely on.

What Is 430 NO.4 Brushed Stainless Steel?

430 NO.4 brushed stainless steel is cold-rolled ferritic stainless steel finished with a directional satin texture created by mechanical brushing with 150–320 grit abrasives. This finish gives a modern, elegant brushed appearance while delivering excellent fingerprint and scratch resistance. The base grade remains the same nickel-free 16–18% chromium ferritic stainless steel, so all mechanical, physical, and corrosion properties are identical to standard 430 — only the surface characteristics change.

For the same high-quality material, please see our a240 Type_430 stainless steel sheet.

Surface Properties of NO.4 Brushed Finish

The NO.4 finish is what makes this variant unique:

  • Surface Roughness (Ra): 0.20 – 0.80 μm (directional satin texture)
  • Gloss Level: 20–40% (matte brushed look)
  • Appearance: Uniform directional brushed lines that hide fingerprints, minor scratches, and daily wear
  • Cleanability: Excellent — the brushed texture reduces visible smudges while remaining easy to wipe clean
  • Scratch Resistance: Superior to BA or 2B because the texture disguises new marks
  • Light Reflection: Low glare, ideal for architectural and high-touch applications

For European or DIN-standard projects, please see our EN10088 2 X6Cr17 stainless steel sheet and DIN 1.4016 stainless steel sheet.

Corrosion Resistance

430 NO.4 offers good atmospheric corrosion resistance in urban and rural environments, comparable to other 430 finishes. The high chromium content forms a stable passive layer. The brushed surface does not reduce corrosion resistance — in many cases it performs slightly better in mild outdoor or high-touch indoor conditions because the texture reduces visible staining.

For Chinese-standard projects, the identical material is also available under GB/T 10Cr17 1Cr17 stainless steel sheet.

Manufacturing Process at Gangsteel & Yongjin Mill

As a direct partner of Yongjin Stainless Steel (Yongjin Mill), we start with high-purity AOD-refined material. After cold rolling and annealing, the sheets undergo multi-stage mechanical brushing with 150–320 grit abrasives under controlled pressure to create the uniform directional NO.4 satin surface. Every batch is inspected with AI visual systems and surface roughness testers to guarantee consistent properties.

For Japanese-standard requirements, please see our JIS G4305 SUS 430 stainless steel sheet.

FAQ

What is the difference between NO.4 and 2B finish on 430?NO.4 is brushed satin (directional texture); 2B is smooth matte.

Does NO.4 affect corrosion resistance? No — corrosion resistance is determined by the base alloy, not the finish.

Can 430 NO.4 be used outdoors?Yes, in non-coastal urban/rural environments.

Is NO.4 harder to clean than BA?No — the brushed texture actually hides dirt better while remaining easy to wipe.

Can Gangsteel supply custom brushed direction or grit?Yes — we can customize brush direction, grit level, and protective film.
