The designation "S275M" means "S" structural, "275" nominal yield (MPa, ≤16 mm transverse), "M" TMCP delivery (900-1100 °C rolling + 20-40 °C/s cooling).
TMCP's fine grains (ASTM 8-10) and low CEV ≤0.38 provide superior weldability (no preheat to 100 mm) and isotropy versus normalized or QT alternatives. Equivalents are vital for global projects, allowing substitution without re-qualification under codes like Eurocode 3 or DNV-OS-B101.
