Gangsteel is the professional supplier you can trust for both S355M (EN 10025-4 TMCP) and S355N (EN 10025-3 normalized) plates, with the largest combined stock in Asia – over 7,000 tons ready for immediate delivery in thickness 6–200 mm, width 1500–4200 mm, length up to 18 m. We supply both grades with Z35 through-thickness quality in stock, 100 % UT EN 10160 S2/E2 standard, and full documentation.
S355M and S355N are twin grades with identical nominal strength (355 MPa yield) and identical chemistry, but differ in delivery condition and manufacturing process.

Verdict from 15+ years experience: S355M (TMCP) is the clear winner for 90 % of modern projects due to lower residual stress, better flatness, superior HAZ properties, and easier fabrication. The small price premium is quickly recovered through reduced welding time, lower preheat requirements, and higher productivity.
S355N (normalized) is still chosen when the specification explicitly requires normalizing or when the fabricator has traditional normalizing equipment for very thick plates (>150 mm) in controlled shop conditions.
Gangsteel produces both grades with identical chemistry and properties – you get the same high quality regardless of delivery condition.
S355M and S355N have exactly the same chemical requirements.

Both grades have excellent weldability (CEV ≤0.39 actual), but S355M's TMCP delivery provides:
Result: S355M allows higher heat input and faster welding speeds with the same or better weld quality.
In the last 5 years, S355M has taken 70–80 % market share from S355N in new projects because:
S355N is still used when the specification explicitly requires normalized delivery.
Q1: S355M vs S355N – which is better for offshore?
A: S355M (TMCP) is now the preferred choice for offshore applications due to lower residual stress, better flatness, and superior HAZ toughness. Most new offshore wind projects specify S355M.
Q2: Are the mechanical properties identical?
A: Yes – yield, tensile, elongation, and impact toughness are exactly the same. The difference is only in the manufacturing process and resulting fabrication behaviour.
Q3: Price difference?
A: S355M is 60–100 USD/ton higher than S355N, but the fabrication advantages usually make it the better value.
Q4: Z35 availability?
A: Yes – large stock of both S355M and S355N + Z35 ready.
Q5: Delivery time to Europe?
