EN 10025 S355M TMCP Structural Steel Plate

Gangsteel – China's Leading Mill-Direct Supplier & Exporter of EN 10025 S355M TMCP Structural Steel Plates

Gangsteel keeps the largest permanent stock of EN 10025 S355M TMCP structural steel plates in Asia – more than 4,000 tons always ready in thickness 6–200 mm, width 1500–4200 mm, length up to 18 m. All plates are genuine TMCP (thermomechanical controlled process) produced by top mills (HBIS, Shougang, Nanjing Steel) with full European approvals (PED 2014/68/EU, CPR 305/2011). We supply with original EN 10204-3.1/3.2 certificates and third-party inspection (DNV-GL, ABS, LR, BV, CCS, KR, TÜV, SGS).

S355M is the standard-temperature version of the popular EN 10025-4 series, offering 355 MPa minimum yield strength and ≥40 J impact toughness at –20 °C. It is the direct TMCP alternative to normalized S355N (EN 10025-3) and the sister grade to low-temperature S355ML.

We also stock the complete EN 10025-4 series in our en 10025 4 High Strength Structural Steel range, including the most popular low-temperature grade en 10025 4 s355ml steel plate, higher-strength en 10025 4 s420m steel plate, and top-end en 10025 4 s460m steel plate.

What is EN 10025 S355M TMCP Structural Steel Plate?

EN 10025 S355M is a thermomechanically rolled (TMCP) weldable fine-grain structural steel specified in EN 10025-4:2004 (current version 2019).

The designation breaks down as:

  • S= structural steel
  • 355= minimum yield strength 355 MPa (transverse, thickness ≤ 16 mm)
  • M= thermomechanical rolling (TMCP delivery condition)
  • No “L” = standard impact toughness ≥ 40 J at –20 °C (longitudinal)

The TMCP process – controlled hot rolling followed by accelerated cooling – produces a very fine-grained microstructure without separate normalizing heat treatment. This gives S355M:

  • Lower residual stress than normalized grades
  • Excellent flatness and dimensional stability
  • Superior weldability (CEV ≤ 0.39)
  • Better fatigue performance

S355M is the standard-temperature counterpart to the more popular low-temperature grade S355ML (–50 °C). When the service temperature stays above –20 °C, S355M is the cost-effective choice with identical strength and chemistry.

Applications of EN 10025 S355M Plates

S355M is widely used when the service temperature is above –20 °C:

  • General structural engineering
  • Bridges and highway structures
  • Onshore wind turbine towers
  • Heavy machinery bases
  • Crane booms and lifting equipment
  • Shipbuilding and marine structures (non-Arctic)

When the temperature drops below –20 °C, the low-temperature version en 10025 4 s355ml steel plate is required.

For higher strength requirements, see en 10025 4 s420m steel plate (420 MPa) or en 10025 4 s460m steel plate (460 MPa).
