What is S355M+Z35 EN 10025-4 Through-Thickness Plate?

S355M+Z35is a thermomechanically rolled (TMCP) weldable fine-grain structural steel under EN 10025-4:2004 (2019 revision) with additional Z35 through-thickness quality per EN 10164 Class 3.

  • S355M= structural steel, minimum yield 355 MPa, TMCP delivery, standard –20 °C impact
  • +Z35= guaranteed through-thickness ductility: minimum 35 % reduction of area (RA_z) in Z-direction tensile test (three specimens per heat, average ≥35 %, single ≥25 %)

Z35 quality prevents lamellar tearing in highly stressed welded joints where tension acts perpendicular to the plate surface (T-joints, cruciform welds, gusset plates, etc.).
