S355ML Equivalent DIN StE355TM EN 10025-4 Plate Supplier

S355ML Equivalent DIN StE355TM – EN 10025-4 Steel Plate

S355ML is a thermomechanically rolled high-strength structural steel grade specified in EN 10025-4, designed for excellent weldability, refined grain structure, and guaranteed toughness at low temperatures (–40°C).
In the German DIN system, the closest equivalent grade to S355ML is StE355TM.

Gangsteel supplies both S355ML and StE355TM plates for international engineering, offshore structures, and low-temperature applications.

What Is the Equivalent of S355ML?

The recognized DIN equivalent of EN 10025-4 S355ML is:

  • DIN 17102 – StE355TM

Reason for equivalence

  • Both are thermomechanically rolled (TM) structural steels
  • Both offer 355 MPa minimum yield strength
  • Both ensure low-temperature impact toughness
  • Both contain micro-alloying elements (Nb, V, Ti)
  • Both are intended for welded structural applications

Although not 100% chemically identical, StE355TM and S355ML are engineering equivalents and widely accepted as interchangeable for international steel projects.

Mechanically, StE355TM matches the performance of S355ML in nearly all categories.

Delivery Condition (TM / M)

Both S355ML and StE355TM are supplied in TMCP (thermomechanically rolled) condition:

Key benefits of TMCP

  • Ultra-fine grain structure
  • High strength without heavy alloy additions
  • Excellent −40°C toughness
  • Low carbon equivalent for superior weldability
  • Good flatness and low residual stress
  • Stable performance in thick plates

Gangsteel uses advanced rolling and accelerated cooling to ensure TMCP properties are consistent across all thicknesses.

Low-Temperature Performance (–40°C)

Both S355ML and StE355TM provide guaranteed Charpy V-notch values:

  • ≥ 27 J at 40°C

This makes both grades suitable for:

  • Offshore platforms
  • Wind tower sections
  • Marine and shipbuilding structures
  • Cold-climate infrastructure
  • Low-temperature mechanical parts
  • Pressure-bearing components

Both steels offer high safety margins in Arctic and deep-sea environments.

Applications of S355ML and StE355TM

Typical fields include:

  • Offshore jackets, modules, and subsea components
  • Heavy construction and bridge structures
  • Wind energy towers and transition pieces
  • Mining machinery and heavy equipment frames
  • Low-temperature industrial structures
  • Load-bearing welded frames
  • Oil & gas engineering projects

S355ML is used widely in European and global projects, while StE355TM appears more in German or legacy DIN projects.

Gangsteel Supply Range

Gangsteel supplies both S355ML and StE355TM with:

  • Thickness:6–150 mm
  • Width:1500–3200 mm
  • Length:6000–12000 mm
  • Certificates:EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 (DNV, ABS, LR, BV available)
  • UT Testing:EN 10160 S1–S3
  • Z-direction Properties:Z15 / Z25 / Z35 optional

All materials include full MTC documentation, impact toughness results, and TMCP rolling records.

Conclusion

S355ML and DIN StE355TM are fully comparable TMCP structural steel grades with the same strength class and low-temperature toughness.
For projects requiring EN 10025-4 compliance, S355ML is the preferred choice.
For German-based or DIN-specified projects, StE355TM is the closest equivalent material.

Gangsteel supplies both grades globally with high-quality TMCP production and strict mechanical property control.
