Steel Grade S355ML EN 10025-4 Structural Plate Supplier

Gangsteel – China's Leading Mill-Direct Supplier & Exporter of Steel Grade S355ML EN 10025-4 Structural Plates

Gangsteel is the professional supplier you can trust for Steel Grade S355ML EN 10025-4 structural plates. We keep more than 5,000 tons of S355ML in permanent stock, thickness 6-200 mm, width 1500-4200 mm, length up to 18 m, with full mill certificates and third-party inspection (DNV, ABS, LR, BV, CCS, KR, TÜV, SGS).

All plates are produced by TMCP (thermomechanical rolling) with very low CEV ≤ 0.39, excellent weldability (no preheat up to 80 mm), fine grain structure, and guaranteed impact toughness ≥ 27 J at –50 °C. Z25 / Z35 through-thickness properties are available from stock.

We deliver worldwide within 3-7 days from ready stock and offer cutting, beveling, drilling, rolling, and priming services.

What is Steel Grade S355ML EN 10025-4?

Steel Grade S355ML is a thermomechanically rolled (TMCP), weldable, fine-grain structural steel specified in EN 10025-4:2004 (latest version 2019).

  • S= structural steel
  • 355= minimum yield strength 355 MPa (for t ≤ 16 mm)
  • M= thermomechanical rolling (TMCP)
  • L= low-temperature impact toughness ≥ 27 J at –50 °C (longitudinal)

S355ML is the most popular grade in the EN 10025-4 series because it combines high strength, excellent weldability, and reliable –50 °C toughness at a reasonable price. It is the direct upgrade from S355J2 or S355NL when service temperature drops below –20 °C or when weight reduction is critical.

Compared to normalized S355NL (EN 10025-3), the TMCP process gives S355ML lower internal stresses, better flatness, and superior through-thickness properties, making it the preferred choice for offshore wind towers, Arctic pipelines, jack-up rigs, and heavy cranes.

FAQ – Most Asked Questions About Steel Grade S355ML

Q1: What is the difference between S355ML and S355M?A: Only the impact temperature. S355ML is tested at –50 °C (≥27 J), S355M at –20 °C (≥40 J). Strength and chemistry are identical. Use S355ML when service temperature is below –20 °C.

Q2: Do I need preheating when welding S355ML?A: No preheating required up to 80 mm thickness (CEV ≤ 0.39). For >80 mm or high restraint, 75–100 °C is sufficient. Much easier than S355J2.

Q3: What is the ASTM equivalent of S355ML?A: Closest is A572 Gr.50 with Z35 and additional –50 °C impact testing, or A633 Grade C. Many projects accept S355ML directly.

Q4: Do you have Z35 quality in stock?A: Yes – very large stock of S355ML + Z35 (≥35 % reduction of area), especially 20–120 mm, ready for immediate delivery.

Q5: What is the density and hardness of S355ML?A: Density 7.85 g/cm³, hardness 140–170 HBW (typical).

Q6: What NDT do you provide?A: Standard 100 % UT EN 10160 S2/E2. S3/E3, MT, PT available on request.

Q7: What specifications can you supply?A: Thickness 6–200 mm, width 1500–4200 mm, length up to 18 m. Z25/Z35, normalized optional, all major class approvals.
