What is Material S460M EN 10025-4 TMCP Plate?

Material S460M is a thermomechanically rolled (TMCP) weldable fine-grain structural steel specified in EN 10025-4:2004 (current version 2019).

The designation “S460M” means:

• S= structural steel
• 460= minimum yield strength 460 MPa (transverse, thickness ≤ 16 mm)
• M= thermomechanical rolling (TMCP delivery condition – controlled hot rolling + accelerated cooling, no separate normalizing)

The TMCP process gives S460M superior properties compared to normalized grades like S460N:
