  • JIS G4305 SUS430(Japan)
  • ASTM A240 Type 430(USA)
  • EN 10088-2 1.4016 / X6Cr17(Europe)
  • DIN EN 1.4016(Germany)
  • GB/T 3280 10Cr17 / 1Cr17(China)
  • BS 1449 430S17(United Kingdom)
  • ISO 4954 X6Cr17(International)

Whether you need JIS, ASTM, EN, GB, or any combination of these standards, Gangsteel delivers consistent quality, full traceability, and competitive pricing from our advanced Chinese production facilities.

What Is 430 Stainless Steel Plate with NO.4 Finish?

The NO.4 finish is a satin-polished surface achieved by mechanically polishing 430 stainless steel plate with 150–320 grit abrasives after annealing and pickling. This creates a fine, directional brushed appearance that effectively hides fingerprints, scratches, and minor imperfections while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. The result is a uniform, low-reflectivity satin look (Ra 0.2–0.8 μm) that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, making it one of the most popular finishes for visible applications.

As a nickel-free ferritic grade, 430 NO.4 plate offers an economical yet durable solution compared to austenitic grades like 304. It provides good atmospheric corrosion resistance, superior thermal conductivity (approximately 26 W/m·K), low thermal expansion, and full magnetic properties, making it ideal for architectural, kitchen, and industrial uses.

Chemical Composition

Our 430 NO.4 plates strictly conform to the chemical limits of all listed standards:

Element

Content (wt%)

Carbon (C)

≤0.12

Chromium (Cr)

16.00–18.00

Manganese (Mn)

≤1.00

Silicon (Si)

≤1.00

Phosphorus (P)

≤0.040

Sulfur (S)

≤0.030

Nickel (Ni)

≤0.75

This precise chemistry ensures a stable chromium-oxide passive layer and prevents excessive carbide formation.

Mechanical Properties

Typical mechanical properties in the annealed condition (standard for NO.4 finish plates):

Property

Value

Yield Strength (0.2% offset)

≥205 MPa

Tensile Strength

≥450 MPa

Elongation (50 mm gauge)

≥22%

Hardness (Rockwell B)

≤89 HRB

Hardness (Brinell)

≤183 HB

These values deliver excellent formability for bending, stamping, and fabrication while maintaining sufficient strength for structural and decorative uses.

Available Specifications and Finishes

Gangsteel offers 430 NO.4 plates in the following standard range (custom sizes available upon request):

  • Thickness: 0.3 mm – 3.0 mm (up to 6 mm on request)
  • Width: 600 mm – 2000 mm (slit or mill edge)
  • Length: Up to 6000 mm
  • Tolerance: Thickness ±0.03 mm, width ±0.5 mm, flatness ≤8 mm/m

While we also produce BA, 2B, and HL finishes, the NO.4 finish remains the preferred choice for fingerprint-resistant and decorative applications. All plates are protected with PVC or PE film to prevent scratching during transit.

Manufacturing Process at Gangsteel

Our production begins with high-purity AOD-refined material to achieve exact chemistry. Hot rolling is followed by cold rolling on precision mills for superior thickness uniformity. Annealing and pickling remove scale, after which the plates undergo multi-stage mechanical polishing with 150–320 grit abrasives to create the classic NO.4 satin surface. Every batch undergoes rigorous inspection including eddy-current testing and AI visual systems. Third-party certification (SGS, TUV, BV) is available for all standards.

For customers requiring the same high-quality material in coil form, we recommend our a240 Type_430 stainless steel sheet or JIS G4305 SUS 430 stainless steel sheet.

Key Advantages of Gangsteel 430 NO.4 Plate

  • Fingerprint and scratch resistant– ideal for high-touch surfaces
  • Economical yet durable– nickel-free composition keeps pricing stable
  • Excellent formability– high ductility for complex fabrication
  • Superior thermal properties– higher conductivity and lower expansion than austenitics
  • Magnetic– easy handling in automated lines
  • Consistent surface quality– uniform directional satin finish with excellent cleanability

Compared with our EN10088 2 X6Cr17 stainless steel sheet or DIN 1.4016 stainless steel sheet, the NO.4 finish offers the same performance at the most competitive price.

Wide Range of Applications

430 NO.4 plate is the material of choice for:

  • Architectural cladding and elevator interiors
  • Kitchen equipment (countertops, sinks, commercial hoods)
  • Food processing surfaces requiring cleanability
  • Automotive interior and exterior trim
  • Wall panels, signage, and decorative accents
  • Industrial equipment panels and guards

For Chinese-standard projects, we also supply the identical material under GB/T 10Cr17 1Cr17 stainless steel sheet.
