What Is AISI 430 Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Coil?

AISI 430 cold rolled stainless steel coil is a nickel-free ferritic grade that offers an excellent balance of corrosion resistance, formability, and cost-effectiveness. Produced through precision cold rolling after hot rolling and annealing, the coil achieves tight thickness tolerances, superior flatness, and a clean surface ideal for further processing into sheets, strips, or finished components. As a straight-chromium alloy (16–18% Cr), it forms a stable passive oxide layer that protects against atmospheric corrosion while providing outstanding thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion — properties that outperform austenitic grades like 304 in heat-management applications.

The absence of nickel makes AISI 430 cold rolled stainless steel coil highly price-stable and fully recyclable, making it the preferred choice for high-volume manufacturers in appliances, automotive, architecture, and industrial equipment.

Chemical Composition

Our AISI 430 coils strictly conform to the chemical limits of all listed standards:

Element

Content (wt%)

Carbon (C)

≤0.12

Chromium (Cr)

16.00–18.00

Manganese (Mn)

≤1.00

Silicon (Si)

≤1.00

Phosphorus (P)

≤0.040

Sulfur (S)

≤0.030

Nickel (Ni)

≤0.75

This precise chemistry ensures excellent weldability, oxidation resistance up to 815 °C, and long-term durability.

Mechanical Properties

Typical mechanical properties in the annealed condition (standard for cold rolled coils):

Property

Value

Yield Strength (0.2% offset)

≥205 MPa

Tensile Strength

≥450 MPa

Elongation (50 mm gauge)

≥22%

Hardness (Rockwell B)

≤89 HRB

Hardness (Brinell)

≤183 HB

These values deliver outstanding formability for deep drawing, bending, and stamping while maintaining sufficient strength for structural applications.

Available Specifications and Finishes

Gangsteel offers AISI 430 cold rolled stainless steel coil in the following standard range (custom sizes available upon request):

  • Thickness: 0.25 mm – 3.0 mm (up to 6 mm on request)
  • Width: 600 mm – 2000 mm (slit or mill edge)
  • Coil ID: 508 mm or 610 mm
  • Coil weight: 5–25 tons

Common finishes include 2B (industrial matte), BA (bright annealed mirror), NO.4 (satin), and HL (hairline). All coils are protected with PVC/PE film and paper interleaving to prevent damage during transit.

Manufacturing Process at Gangsteel

Our production begins with high-purity AOD-refined material to achieve exact chemistry. Hot rolling is followed by cold rolling on 20-high Sendzimir or 4-high mills for superior thickness uniformity (±0.03 mm). Bright or continuous annealing under controlled atmosphere restores ductility, followed by pickling, skin-passing, and final inspection using eddy-current and AI visual systems. Every batch undergoes third-party testing (SGS, TUV, BV) for full traceability.

Customers looking for the same high-quality material in sheet or other finishes can also choose our a240 Type_430 stainless steel sheet, EN10088 2 X6Cr17 stainless steel sheet, DIN 1.4016 stainless steel sheet, GB/T 10Cr17 1Cr17 stainless steel sheet, or JIS G4305 SUS 430 stainless steel sheet.
